Why We Live Here
Arizona City was established over 50 years ago in 1959 when the Arizona City Development Corporation decided to develop two and a half acres of land. Located in the Santa Cruz Valley, close to the Sawtooth Mountains, it is conveniently located at the midpoint between Phoenix and Tucson in what’s referred to as the Golden Corridor of Pinal County. Arizona City has easy access to two major highways for commuting and traveling. Cattle ranching and agriculture are both abundant in the area and the lands around Arizona City include both industrial and commercially zoned areas perfect for future businesses to grab.
Arizona City maintains a small town feel while providing many city amenities. If you’re the outdoors type Arizona City offers bird watching, hiking, rock climbing, star gazing, amazing weather throughout most of the year and more. Our lightly used roads offer the perfect opportunity for taking a nice leisurely walk, pet stroll or bike ride. Whether you are single, building a family or retired and wanting to relax all you need can be found in or within minutes of Arizona City and we look forward to getting to know you!

History
This census-designated place (CDP) was founded in 1959 when Jack McRae, president of the Arizona City Development Corporation, purchased and developed 2.5 acres of land in the Santa Cruz Valley in the area that would eventually grow to become the 6.2 square-mile modern day townsite. The location was selected because of the abundance of deep water from the Santa Cruz River flowing north from Mexico, one of the few rivers in North America that do. The source of the water is the Santa Cruz River, which flows north from Mexico, one of the few rivers in North America that do. The water is considered some of the purest in Arizona; every 14 days samples are sent to the state health department and they come back consistently rated 100% pure.
Today Arizona City is an unincorporated part of Pinal County although from time to time, most recently in 2007, attempts have been made to incorporate as a municipality, but they have so far always been defeated at the ballot box, except for the first effort in the early 1980s, which succeeded at the ballot box but was overturned in court because there were not enough residents at that time to incorporate.
Interesting Facts
Historically, Arizona City’s only employers have been the farms that surround the area and the few service jobs that exist within the townsite. However, being located in the middle of the Arizona Sun Corridor region, Arizona City’s economy may soon be impacted by several large, proposed attractions and factories that will potentially add 30,000 new jobs and attract up to 4 million visitors annually.
Arizona City is an official part of the Juan Bautista de Anza Historic Trail. In 1775 Bautista and his party rested in the Arizona City area after coming out of Apache Land. This historic trail begins in Sonora, Mexico and ends at the Presidio in San Francisco, California.
